Ms Fashion Fiend Update

Hey Fiends!!! I hope all is fabulous in your world!!! Just a quick update on things in my world. Sorry I didn't update for a few days...I was spending time in Atlanta with my amazing boyfriend for his birthday!!! I almost didn't want to come back to NYC, but my dreams reside here so I definitely had to return to chase them. Since the debut of Fashion Fiend I've been getting some really great feedback and even a few great opportunities(I'll tell you more as they unfold). It's been less than a month, and I've already received almost 1000 hits..... YaY!!!! I'm so excited to have the opportunity to share my passion and ideas with all of my fellow fashion fiends. Starting this blog has definitely enhanced my creativity and it has become an outlet for the million fabulous things running around in my head. I'm so in love with this amazing art form and there are no words, even for me, to really describe my feelings. I just know this is for me....... I'm claiming 2009 as my year and I taking you on this ride as I chase my dreams!!! Stay tuned and in the mean time Fabulous!!!

Trend Fiend: NEON

So it's no new news that bold colors are the must wear for this spring, post , but Neon colors have been popping up everywhere.....and.....I love it!!! Yes I said neon!!! Seems kind of bold, I know, but when worn right your fabulousness will be as bright as a caution light!!

Perfect for spring and definitely can be taken into the summer.....neon pink, green, and blues look great by themselves or even more glam when paired with black. If you're not brave enough to rock a neon dress or shoes than embrace the trend by rocking neon nail polish. I beg you not to go crazy and start mixing to many neon colors....that my fiends is what I call a mess!

Who is Amber Rose....

So this chick Amber Rose has been popping up all over the net and blogs and apparently she's Kanye's new boo. Who she dates doesn't concern me, but what she wears I definitely care about!! Known as a video vixen by the masses, appearing in Ludacris and Young Jeezy videos, she just popped up out of no where like your favorite shoe that's been missing for days!! The girl definitely has a style of her own that I will admit has gone from 0 to 100 thousand trillion (that was to easy). She's been seen at all the best fashion shows in NYC and Paris, the ones fashionistas only dream to attend.....hence my dream last night. Talk about overnight celebrity.....in a matter of weeks we've seen this Italian and Cape Verdean blondie go from "who?'' to "I thought you knew".........

Her style game seems to be edgy and flashy....I'm not in love but I'm definitely not in hate.... I mean do you see those Chanel Glasses and Louis Vuitton Shoes!!!! OMG!!! Anyway... I'll be watching to see how this goes!!!

Love It or Leave It.....

So my motto has always been.....to match is not to match!!! Basically meaning it's an eye sore to be seen in a yellow dress with yellow shoes, a yellow bag, and yellow accessories.....So Wrong!!Recently I read a article stating "matching your entire outfit is the latest fashion trend". I beg to differ but hey to each it's own. Anyway, one of Fashion Fiend's Favs , Victoria Beckham, was seen parading through LAX rocking this matching get up........





I have my own opinion, but what do you think....

When Bad Things Happen To Fab People

So I'm know I'm late... but I'm so heart broken with what...normally uberly fabulous chick.... Christina Milian did to her hair and wore to the Atlanta Hawks game this past weekend!!! Talk about fashion heart break!!! What was she thinking.... from the hair, the glasses, the lip stick, the jacket, and the shirt. I could have handled one of these fashion mishaps, but all of them...just to much. I'm guessing she is trying to re-invent herself but maybe she should have called me first. She is normally always simply fabulous, subdued in the latest and greatest must haves. I guess bad things do happen to fabulous people....

The Right To Bare Arms

The media is all up in arms about Michelle Obama's bare arms. It seems that they try to find the most insignificant things to crucify people who are beyond flawless. Seriously, with arms like hers, who wouldn't want to flaunt them.....be for real. Last time I checked we live in a country where there is not only a law of freedom of speech but a law to fashionably be fabulous....yeah I just made that up. With the sophistication, class, poise, intelligence, and fabulousness Michelle O posses, I guess her bare arms are the only thing the media can fault her on....so shallow. I love that our first lady has a style of her own...and if Mr.President isn't complaining the media shouldn't be either!

One Word....... FABULOUS!!!

Are You Buying It?

As you know, here on Fashion Fiend I like to talk about all things glamorous and fabulous, and important things that influence fashion are definitely that. I just came across an advertisement for Samantha Thavasa hand bags with Beyonce and Solange as their celebrity models. I'll be the first to tell you that I wasn't in love with the bags, but the next thing that crossed my mind was..... will people buy these purely because of the celebrities used in the advertisement? Designers and companies often adorn our favorite celebrities in the latest trends and or products in advertisements for marketing campaigns or as simple walking advertisements just to influence our spending habits. I know the teenage market is heavily influenced by products endorsed by their favorite celebs; but what about young adults, do you rush to the store to grab the latest shoes or bags just because you see your favorite celebrity wearing or advertising it?

The unfortunate reality is we do.....Celebrities influence our every day spending especially when it comes to fashion. From shoes, bags, makeup, and even liquor, they act like they love it and then so do we. The perfect example is when the girls on Gossip Girl started wearing the head bands with the bow.....a trend was born and the masses went insane! One celebrity endorsing one brand or trend can turn into millions of dollars, for the company of course. Why is it that people are so easily influenced by celebrities? They want there entire style, when you should really want your own, and they practically mimic everything they do. Don't get me wrong I often get inspired by what a celebrity is wearing, but I will not spend my hard earned money, or lack there of, on an item I'm not interested in solely because of who's wearing it. Do advertisers and designers think we are that shallow...or are we?
